Robert Indiana (1928-2018), pseud. of Robert Clark, was an American pop art artist. His famous stacked LOVE image originates from 1964 as a drawing on an invitation card. This image would become so popular that a few years later, in 1970, he finished his first large sculpture in aluminium of the word, which has since been displayed in the garden of the Indianapolis Museum of Art, and is nowadays seen in various shapes and sizes in museums and public spaces around the world.
